NSW Boys Group - Best Band - August 2006

The Riverwood Squadron Band has an enviable record amongst the Australian Air League. The Band has had many successes over recent years. The Riverwood Squadron Band has an enviable record amongst the Australian Air League. The Band has had many successes over recent years. In 2002 the Band retained their title as the "Best Band" within the Australian Air League (AAL) at the AAL Review, held on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The Squadron also retained the title of "Best Drum Major" in 2002, won by Ian Kent. The Riverwood Squadron Band has been undefeated at the AAL Review since 1986. They have won the competition 8 times:

Gold Coast in 1986, Canberra in 1988

Campbelltown in 1990, Brisbane in 1992

Sydney in 1994, Melbourne in 1998

Dubbo in 2000, Gold Coast in 2002

The Band did not compete at Adelaide in 1996.

Riverwood’s Band holds a number of local titles as well. They currently hold the title of "Best Band" in the NSW Boys' Group (NSWBG) of the AAL. Riverwood also won the "Best Band on the March" trophy at the NSWBG Annual Ceremonial Parade in Sydney in 2002. In 1999, 2001 and 2002 the Band won the Drum Corps Section of the Sydney ANZAC Day Parade Competition, coming runner up in 2000. The Riverwood Squadron Band won the NSW Pipe Band Association’s Mini Band Contest in the Drum Corps Section in 1999 and 2000. There was no competition held in this category in 2001 or 2002.
